After last weeks post about swapping certain foods to similar options, taste and texture wise, but also lower calorie, this week I thought I would list a couple absolute poverty calorie foods, that I find handy during times of extreme calorie restriction.
- Zucchini noodles. I have this little spiralizer that I use to turn a zucchini into a heap of noodes, which I can then use as a ‘pasta’ with basically no calories. I myself would generally use zucchini noodles with a kangaroo bolognese, or just a chicken stir-fry.
- Cauliflower rice. Blend a raw cauliflower in the food processor to the consistency of rice and then use that as a base to whatever kind of dish you would usually have rice with, again with basically zero calories. I myself would use cauliflower rice under a stir-fry or with a curry.
I have never managed to get a client to gain bodyfat from eating too much zucchini or cauliflower.
More foods and less cals, that’s a win when you are on poverty calories.
